Channeling dark powers from within, The Black Doors have unleashed their third album Spirits. Gathering inspiration from fear, loss and love found during the pandemic alongside themes from Victorian spiritualism, Spirits evokes strong emotions while balancing the extremes of piercing melodies and raucous cacophony.
Persevering through strange times, the band (Allison Green, Topher Walberg, Brian Gardiner) ambitiously recorded Spirits at their respective home studios, with the exception of the supernatural vocals tracked at Singing Sands Studios in Portland, OR.
Allison Green’s haunting voice wails and wanes against cutting drums and swirling guitars, leading the listener to question at times if the record itself is possessed. Joining forces with Portland based Little Cloud Records, The Black Doors continue to deliver devilish good fun.

lyrics
Oh begin the incantation
Something like love on your breath
Circle around me like a vulture
My carrion heart still beating
Smoke rimmed witching eyes
Tip the chin back, lift up my chest
Without a touch, electric undulation
Knees bruising, but I’ll not move
Fever as scarlet, the marks from your hands
Spin and twitch just as fast as we can
You’re not of this world and neither am I
Creating heaven, making hell where we lie
Beads of sweat scale down my back
Your grip controls the scorching sun
Pull it taut, show me now, and again
My jailer, sweet maker, my savior
Lifted up, so my body commands
Eyes rolled back, in pleasured means
Levitating, floating before you
Plunged into the depths above
Fever as scarlet, the marks from your hands
Spin and twitch just as fast as we can
You’re not of this world and neither am I
Creating heaven, making hell where we lie
